Melton Mowbray Distributor Road

Delivery of a new 7.1km single carriageway road designed to tackle longstanding congestion and traffic related problems in Melton Mowbray, enabling and facilitating local development and growth. The scheme includes six roundabout junctions with the radials on its route and provides crossings over the railway line and River Eye. To cross the River Eye, a Site of Special Scientific Interest, the river itself was diverted to its historical alignment, providing the opportunity for ecological mitigation and restoration.

Provided client-side project management support from pre-construction through the whole construction process. Our involvement begun at CPO stage, and spanned through land assembly, CPO implementation, highway legal orders, planning variation, discharging all planning conditions, development of the Full Business Case (working with WSP) submitted to the Department for Transport, and ongoing client-side project management. 

Unlocking approximately 2,000 dwellings as part of the Melton Mowbray Northern Sustainable Neighbourhood and facilitating a total of 6,000 dwellings and supporting the creation of 3,400 jobs as the most critical piece of infrastructure comprised in the Melton Local Plan.
