Project Scope

Redevelopment and modernisation of the Stephenson Memorial Hall, home to the Pomegranate Theatre and Chesterfield Museum and Art Gallery. The project will deliver enhanced, expanded, and accessible cultural facilities - combining theatre, cinema, museum, gallery, café, bar, education, and community spaces - while preserving the building’s heritage and character.

Approach

Bentley led the successful Levelling Up Fund Round 1 bid and subsequent Arts Council funding applications, securing over £15m in external investment. Working closely with Chesterfield Borough Council, Bentley established robust project governance, managed the multi-disciplinary consultant team, and oversaw the development of the scheme through RIBA Stages 2–4. The team delivered planning and listed building consent approvals and led procurement strategy and contractor appointment. Bentley continue to provide project and cost management, risk and programme management, and client-side reporting, with an enhanced role as Contract Administrator to streamline project delivery.
