The Vision

A garden village providing new homes and employment for the local area.

The Project

South Derby Growth Zone, providing access to south Derby from the A50 strategic road network. The project includes:

  • Major new junction on the A50
  • An internal link road, connecting the A50 at Deepdale lane to the Infinity Park, enabling housing, employment, and education development
  • Flood mitigation scheme

Key Achievements

  • Successful in achieving planning permission from the two local planning authorities for the cross-boundary scheme to construct a new junction on the A50 and associated link road
  • Submission, and approval, of a DfT Levelling Up Funding (LUF) application, with the scheme being awarded the largest single amount of £49.6M
  • Joint Steering Group established between public partners, private partners and other key agencies (Homes England, Highways England and Local Enterprise Partnership)
  • Strategic Outline Business Case for new junction submitted to Department for Transport
