Gainsborough Sustainable Urban Extensions

The project at Gainsborough involved three new Sustainable Urban Extensions comprising a total of 7,440 new homes and associated commercial and leisure uses.

Members of the Bentley Project Management team acted as Development Manager and Agent at Thonock & Somerby Estates Gainsborough Lincolnshire being responsible for full asset management of a large landed estate. In addition the members of the team undertook a Project Management role to secure planning permission at the site and promote the residential-led scheme. Specific achievements of the team are noted below:

  • Promoted 3 new Sustainable Urban Extensions for Gainsborough comprising a total of 7,440 homes and associated commercial and leisure uses
  • Assisted the Growth Point application in support of West Lindsey District Council’s wider regeneration agenda
  • Secured CABE support for the design team proposals
  • Agreed a Planning Performance Agreement with West Lindsey District Council assisted by the Homes and Communities Agency ATLAS, now used as a best practice example
  • Appointed a multi disciplinary development project team including architects, planners, surveyors and engineers
  • Secured outline planning permission for Foxby Lane, an urban expansion of Gainsborough comprising 2,500 homes, a mixed-use district centre with provision for 5,000 jobs and two primary school sites with associated local centres
  • Procured major civil engineering works to provide strategic serviced employment land
